In this overview, staff is depicting, with two separate charts, the reason for the update task and the process.
Required tasks are areas identified by staff or partner organizations (state agencies, federal agencies, regional organizations, etc.) that need to be updated to be consistent with state and federal law and/or other regulations. These are mandatory updates. The tasks that are predominantly required are indicated by the brown color.
Recommended tasks have been identified by staff, partner organizations, or the public outside of the Wasco County 2040 process as ways to improve the Land Use and Development Ordinance and/or regulations. Many of these tasks are process focused, rather than substantively regulation or criteria focused. Proposed revisions intend to streamline or improve application and review processes rather than fundamentally change what land uses and activities are allowed. Recommended tasks are indicated by the yellow color.
Wasco County 2040 tasks are those items that were identified during Wasco County 2040 (the Comprehensive Plan Update) and either adopted as policy, implementation measure, or otherwise earmarked for future work. By in large, these tasks are driven by public input. Wasco County 2040 tasks are indicated by the green color.
Some tasks may be required but also recommended, or driven by Wasco County 2040 efforts and required, or another combination of these categories. To learn more about the individual tasks, click on the hyperlinked text.
The process timeline below the charts show each year’s tentative timeline, and specifically earmark when certain tasks will have focused public outreach including public meetings. Each year, the hearings process is tentatively schedule for September through December.
