The Oregon legislature has made additions, deletions, or other modifications to state law that require updates to our Land Use and Development Ordinance (LUDO).  In most cases, these are mandatory updates.  When the proposed update is optional, it will be clearly indicated in the proposed draft.

This task category also includes other mandatory modifications to the LUDO, including those discovered during an internal and external audit.  In 2017, the Department of Land Conservation and Development awarded Wasco County a grant to have Angelo Planning Group conduct an independent audit of the Exclusive Farm Use (EFU) and Forest Lands chapters of the Wasco County Land Use and Development Ordinance.  Staff and DLCD also offered some proposed modifications to better align with state law.  These changes are, by in large, mandatory to make the Wasco County LUDO consistent with state law.

One optional update, based on public input,  is to evaluate the setbacks in the EFU, or A-1, zone to avoid unintended hardships on agricultural operators when locating necessary buildings.  There are also several optional uses in EFU and Forest zones staff would like public input on.  This includes an accessory forest dwelling (second home for forest operations), cidery, restaurant in conjunction with a winery, guest ranch, farm brewery, and equine therapy businesses.  Take our quick surveys below to provide input about these optional uses.
