To ensure all those impacted by the Mosier Creek Fire, White River Fire, and the Sevenmile Hill Fire are able to participate in the upcoming September 1st Planning Commission hearing for Wasco County 2040, staff will be proposing a continuance to Tuesday, September 15th, 2020.  The Planning Commission will utilize the hearing time scheduled for September 1st to provide time for public comment but will postpone any deliberation or revisions to the materials until September 15th.

At the September 15th hearing, following a staff presentation and public comment, the Planning Commission will then deliberate on whether to recommend approval of proposed revisions to the Board of County Commissioners.  Board of County Commissioner hearings are scheduled for October 7th and October 21st.

Although Periodic Review deadlines prohibit us from extending the hearing to a date later than the 15th, the Planning Department hopes the additional two weeks will allow for all interested parties to submit comment or attend one of the hearings.  Comments can be submitted in writing to the Planning Department or via email to the project manager Kelly (kellyg at co.wasco.or.us).  You can also submit a comment here.

As these are the last series of updates for Wasco County 2040, Planning staff want to ensure that the citizen involvement that has been so critical to the process over the last several years is maintained until the end.  We intend that the extra hearing will provide an additional opportunity for interested parties to participate.

To comply with Governor orders and ensure public safety, Wasco County is currently conducting all public meetings electronically.  Details for registration for the September 1st and September 15th meeting on the Wasco County website: https://www.co.wasco.or.us/departments/planning/agendas_and_minutes.php
