There was a great attendance for our kick off public meeting on April 11th and many residents and business owners offered their feedback about their visions for Wasco County and what they would like to see moving forward.
Some of the concerns expressed by attendees included: water availability for agriculture and residential uses, agriculture minimum parcel sizes (some wanted larger, some wanted them to stay the same, and some wanted them smaller), impact of recreation on infrastructure, changing needs of agriculture, and livability. Attendees also requested meeting times be scheduled outside business hours (see upcoming events) and were excited about the opportunity to attend meetings closer to their homes.
We appreciated the opportunity to hear from our community, and that staff and Planning Commissioners were also able to have some one on one time with individuals.
If you were unable to attend, please be assured there are lots of opportunities to participate over the next three years of the Wasco County 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update process. We still have a brief survey available (its anonymous and takes about ten to fifteen minutes to complete) and will be having six to eight community based meetings over the next several months where you can participate.
For those who are shy or not computer savvy, we are also happy to take comments by email or letter.
Thanks again for all who attended and we will see you again for our kick off roadshow meeting on May 2nd at The Discovery Center.
